How Does Dr. Connor Help Patients?

The first thing in our office that is always addressed is the physical alignment of the body. Bringing the spine into a neutral position frees up the nervous system and allows the body to right itself. When this happens, the greatest healing occurs. The body is designed to work perfectly, and in our office we understand that by providing the body with the correct tools to function properly, we provide the key to optimum health.

Background on NUCCA & Dynamic Equilibrium

Dr. Connor helps your body to achieve a state of Dynamic Equilibrium. What does that mean for you? Throughout life, we have accidents and injuries, quite often starting from the birthing process if not shortly thereafter when learning to walk. When the body goes through a physical trauma, the stresses move throughout the body and affect the areas of least resistance.

Dr. B.J. Palmer, followed by Dr. Ralph Gregory (the founder of the NUCCA technique) and Dr. John Grostic, found the area of least resistance in the entire spine to be around the skull, the first vertebra (C1) and the second vertebra (C2). As an adult, your skull weighs between 10-14 lbs. We essentially have a bowling ball (the skull) sitting on top of a 2oz. bone (C1 or the Atlas). When the skull’s weight shifts, a whole cascade of reactions occur in an attempt to rebalance things in the body. Unfortunately, it cannot equilibrate itself.

What occurs after a physical injury or trauma is the weight of the head shifts, then a very powerful reflex (The Righting Reflex) kicks in and shifts the head and eyes back to a level, neutral position. Because of this, neurological stress occurs in the entire body. You get spastic contracture or tightening of muscle on one side of the body more than the other, causing a high and a low hip, a long and a short leg, and, as a result, a twisting of the spinal framework begins to occur in the spine.

Over extended periods of time, this can lead to many different manifestations in the body:

  • Headaches
  • Migraines
  • Sinus Problems
  • TMJ
  • Sleep Disorders
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Allergies
  • ADD/ADHD
  • Vertigo, balance and equilibrium problems
  • Numbness/tingling in arms and legs
  • Carpal Tunnel
  • Stomach Problems
  • Constipation
  • Sciatica
  • Menstrual Disorders
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Neck Pain
  • Back Pain
  • Knee Problems
  • Ankle Problems
  • Disc Problems
